What Scaffold Tower Do You Need to Paint Your House's Facade?

It's the most common question we get: "I'm going to paint my house's facade — what tower do I need?" The right answer depends on the actual height of the building, not just the number of storeys — but here's a practical guide to help you get it right.

Before you choose: measure the real height, don't count it in "storeys"

A storey can measure anywhere between 2.5 and 3.5 metres depending on the construction. If you can, measure from the ground to the highest point you need to reach (usually the roof eave) and add at least 1 metre of working margin. That figure is what you should compare against each tower's "platform height" — not its total height.

Guide by type of home

Single-storey house (facade up to 3–4 metres)The 5.2 m tower (platform at 3.2 m) is usually enough. It gives you room to work comfortably at the eave without having to stretch.

Two-storey home (facade 5–6 metres)This is where people most often underestimate. The 6.2 m tower (platform at 4.2 m) covers most cases, but if the facade has sloping ground beneath it or a tall pitched roof, the 7.2 m tower (platform at 5.2 m) gives you more safety margin.

Three-storey homes or tall facadesThe 8.2 m tower (platform at 6.2 m) is our tallest standard option. For taller buildings or special projects, we offer custom configurations — just tell us the exact height.

A common mistake: choosing "just enough"

Many customers ask for the tower that just barely meets the minimum height to save money. The problem is that working at the top edge of the platform, with your arms overhead for hours, is uncomfortable and less safe than working with margin. Our advice: if you're torn between two heights, go with the taller one. The price difference is usually smaller than the difference in comfort and safety.

What if the facade is an irregular shape or there are obstacles (a porch, garden, uneven ground)?

In these cases, a standard tower may not be the optimal solution on its own — you might need to move it several times during the job, or combine it with a different configuration. Tell us the details of the site and the project (photos help a lot) and we'll recommend the most efficient option, at no cost for the consultation.
